Components Of Fitness ( Health Related Fitness)

The word "Fitness" is often misunderstood and confused, especially in today's society of social media and the word "Fit" being used to describe somebody who looks good.


Fitness by its definition is split into 2 major categories "Health Related Fitness" & "Skill Related Fitness" with both categories containing a number of components.


Health Related Fitness

Cardiovascular Fitness

Cardiovascular Fitness (CV) is sometimes known as Stamina or Cardio and referrers to a person ability to take part in and sustain continuous submaximal exercise.



Muscular Strength

Muscular Strength refers to the maximal amount of force than can be applied against resistance and is properly measured by assessing the heaviest weight a specific muscle group can lift, push or pull via a 1 Rep Max Test




Muscular Endurance

Muscular Endurance measures and individuals ability to repeatedly perform an movement against some resistance without fatigue.



Flexibility

Flexibility is the measure or a person's Range Of Movement (ROM) around their joints and the muscles that surround the joints. Flexibility is particularly important for quality of life & reduce risk of injury in everyday life as well as any sporting performance.



Body Composition

Body Composition is the ratio of Muscle, Fat, Bone, Blood & Water the human body is carrying around at any one given point. The two components which can be mostly influenced by exercise is Muscle Mass & Fat Mass.
